Esteve Almirall


serves as Associate Professor in Esade Business School where his research focuses on Innovation, particularly on Open Innovation. His academic work has been referenced in HBR and he is a frequently involved in conferences around Innovation, Smart Cities, Living Labs and Open Data/Gov.

He is passionate about how we can use IT to redefine governance and reinvent citizenship in the XXI century transforming cities from service providers to ecosystem orchestrators and therefore fostering growth and promoting entrepreneurship. He aims to collaborate to this transformation by promoting change amongst cities and engaging them in the bottom-up, grass-roots side of Open Innovation. Right now we are busy recruiting developers/fellows for Code for Europe that we hope will contribute to reshape city governance.

His background is a mix of Management Science (PhD,MRes,MBA) and Computer Science (MSc, MRes). He is highly involved in European Projects and EU organizations such as the ENoLL (European Network of Living Labs) where hee is  Council Member and coordinating the EU projects Open Cities, Commons for Europe (Code for Europe) and Collage.
