Giuseppe Polese



is associate professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Salerno, Italy. He received the Laurea degree cum laude in Computer Science from the University of Salerno (Italy), the Master Degree in Computer Science from the University of
Pittsburgh (USA), and the Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Salerno. He has worked for the italian airspace company Alenia, working on Artificial Intelligence and on Software Engineering projects. He has also been a consultant for several companies, such as Olivetti, Siemens, Telecom Italia, and has directed several applied research projects in cooperation with some italian software
firms. He has been program committee member for several conferences on databases, multimedia systems, and information systems, co-chair for the international conference on Distribuited Multimedia Systems and the associated workshop on Visual Languages and Computing. His research interests include visual languages, databases, e-learning, and multimedia software engineering.
